A Countryside Wedding in Minnesota

The story behind the film

It was a rainy start for Megan & Travis’ countryside wedding near Hastings, MN. But what seemed unideal at first actually ended up being incredibly powerful, and something I had to reflect in their wedding video.

During Megan & Travis’ ceremony, their pastor read a passage from Jeremiah 17: 6-8 which says “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord. They are like trees planted along a river with roots that reach down in the water. Those trees are not bothered by the heat, or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” This passage reflected their story beautifully.

From the very first meeting I had with them, I could tell Megan & Travis weren’t bothered by insignificant things. After all, they had each other, and the support of their family and friends. They knew where they were going, and where their path would take them. So I symbolized this by establishing early shots of a tree before taking the film down a countryside path surrounded by leaves and branches. The tree symbolizes Megan & Travis, and the leaves and branches symbolize the support from friends and family along the way. In the end, the sky cleared and Megan and Travis ended up reaching their destination just as they planned. And I show them looking out at another tree at sunset. Only this tree is stronger than the one before.

Megan & Travis’ wedding video symbolizes that no matter the condition, they will get through it stronger because they have the love of each other and friends and family. “Their leaves stay green” as the verse says, “and they never stop producing fruit.”
